about WIDDERSHINS
at 48 the crone came to me in whispers. even as a young woman our obsession with the holy virgin and eternal youth felt off to me. i wondered where women went after the age of 30. after studying the witch, i now know why the rage wants out and why we get called names as soon as women get loud.

the mood
call it feminism. call it activism. call it hysteria or the dwelling of the womb. when you are at the intersection of being a woman, a mother, an entrepreneur, a fashion designer and irreversibly growing older, one will have to ask questions at some point. why are women shamed for aging? why are we obsessed with the malleable, desirable virgin? why is most medicine described as ‘alternative’ when it was in the experienced hands of women for centuries? why is femicide still a trigger to weigh the woman and not the man’s life? the archetype of the witch knocks at our door with any of these questions. no other persona pulls so many strings in our lives, even though we fear, mock and even question her existence.

WIDDERSHINS investigates the witch and what makes her content. the love-bite of reality. the delicate magic that is to be found in nature, no matter how short this moment in time. seeing is believing indeed. WIDDERSHINS likes the rough edges of stones rolling around in our pockets when we just found them. how they fit our hands perfectly whether they are hot or cold. WIDDERSHINS is the clairvoyance of very transparent fabric and the tough wide elastic bands that try to hold us in vain. to be flexible and with foresight is key to navigate these woods and WIDDERSHINS invites and inspires to do just that.
